My Name is Bond , James Bond ! with the licence to hear ….

Just had a little free time and then i had the idea to hear all of the James Bond soundtracks , especially the main titles of each film. And this is the outcome , really a nice blog with great compositions ……. a little time travel from 1962 til today 2013

So we have currently 23 Bond movies lets start in 1962 (Sean Connery ) with the orchestral James Bond theme , which has become well known and an essential part of every film afterwards , a composition of Monty Norman.

This will be my 500 th blog post on www.xworldmusic.wordpress.com. I started to blog there , with the kind permission of Xandi , last year in may . Til this day i´ve posted nearly every day one or more music examples of worldmusic. And i decided , the 500th must be  one with a topic and i found yesterday on Cordulas Site this article  about Voyager One , a satellite which left in these days our solar system.

The Voyager 1 spacecraft is a 722 kg (1,590 lb) space probe launched by NASA on September 5, 1977 to study the outer Solar System and interstellar medium.Each Voyager space probe carries a gold-plated audio-visual disc in the event that either spacecraft is ever found by intelligent life-forms from other planetary systems. The discs carry photos of the Earth and its lifeforms, a range of scientific information, spoken greetings from people (e.g. the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the President of the United States) and a medley, “Sounds of Earth”, that includes the sounds of whales, a baby crying, waves breaking on a shore, and a collection of Earth music, including works by Mozart, Blind Willie Johnson, and Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B. Wer oder was ist Suzie Q. ?????

Suzie Q , ein Cover von CCR -Credence Clearwater Revival oder den Rolling Stones wird wohl den meisten bekannt sein; Dale Hawkins der den Song 1957 geschrieben und als erster aufgelegt hatte landete auf Platz 27 der Billboard Charts, er wird  auch gleichzeitig als der Begründer des SwampRock genannt , einer Richtung der Rockmusik, die den Südstaaten insbesondere Louisiana entstammte und Elemente von Blues Country ; Folk und Cajun enthält. 12 Jahre später coverten CCR dann diesen Song. Neben Ihnen auch noch andere Bands wie zum Beispiel The Astronauts, Bobby McFerrin & Richard Bona, Chet Atkins, Johnny Rivers, The Rolling Stones, The Namelosers, Uncle Tupelo und Gene Summers.

Aufgrund des Textes wurde der Name auch als Kosename verwendet , auch für junge Damen die eigentlich nicht den Vornamen Suzie trugen : “I like the way you walk / I like the way you talk / I like the way you walk I like the way you talk / Suzie Q” Man kann sich ja rege vorstellen, daß man so entsprechend Eindruck schinden konnte

Einen anderen Song,  in dem dieser Name noch Verwendung fand , habe ich bei Lilian “Lil” Hardin Armstong , einer Jazz-Pianistin , Komponistin und Sängerin gefunden;  übrigens die Gattin von Louis Armstrong , mit dem Sie von 1924 bis 1938 verheiratet war.

Der Titel des Songs beschreibt noch eine weitere Bedeutung des Namens, nämlich den eines bestimmten Tanz Stils, wahrscheinlich aus den 1920ern, ich hab doch tatsächlich einenTanzkurs  für diesen Tanzschritt gefunden, zwar nen Hip Hop workshop aber man erkennt gut ,  wie das ausgesehen hat, es erinnert mich stark an den Charleston , der den meisten sicher ein Begriff ist. Es wird beschrieben als Swing Tanzstil inspiriert aus dem Salsa , man möge meine mangelnden Tanzkenntnisse entschuldigen^^

Suzie Q ist auch der Spitzname für einen Zug der von New York, Pennsylania und New Jersey verkehrte dem New York, Susquehanna and Western Railway oder kurz NYSW, wer sich dafür interessiert kann, die Infos dem Link den ich dem Namen unterlegt habe, entnehmen.

Suzie Q.  soll auch der Straßenname des Medikaments Quetiapin sein, der zur Behandlung von Schizophrenie und ähnlichen Krankheitsbildern eingesetzt wird oder der Name  des Lucky Punch , den Lucky Marciano seinem damaligen Gegner Jersey Joe Walcott versetzte,  als er seinen ersten Schwergewichtstitel gewann. (Walcott lag in allen Runden nach Punkten weit vorne )

Den Titel verbinde ich ganz stark mit einem meiner Lieblingsfilme “Apocalypse Now ” ; in einer Szene fliegt die Army mit einem Helikopter  die aktuellen Playboy Playmates in einen Stützpunkt ,direkt im Dschungel ein, aufgrund des vorhandenen geballtenen Testoterons endet das natürlich in einer Katastrophe . (die Musik stammt von Flash Cadillac 1975)
