Besame mucho – Kiss me

Bésame mucho is a famous love song ,  interpreted in different styles of music in music history . It was composed in 1941 by the Mexican composer Consuelo Velázquez, who also wrote the lyrics .

The melody of the world-famous as Bésame mucho love song quotes a theme of the Spanish composer Enrique Granados (1867-1916). He used it first in the piano piece „Quejas o la maja y el ruiseñor“ (the maiden and the nightingale) 1911

His entry into the popular music has been in 1941 as Consuelo Velázquez composed  the song Bésame mucho and provided with its own lyrics. „When I wrote the song in 1941, I had never been kissed, it was all a figment of my imagination,“ said Velázquez  in an interview.

Chela Campos and Emilio Tuero released a version in  Mexico , Sunny Skylar wrote the english lyrics . (1941)

the version from Jimmy Dorsey and his orchestra  with the singer Kitty Kallen and Bob Eberly the song reached number 1 in the US american charts . (1943/44)

In  1945 Tino Rossi released his version of this song in french language

the song has been translated in more than 20 languages , in 1999 It was recognized by the Real Academia Española as the (with the exception of birthday songs and carols) most played song in spanish laguage ever .
