R.I.P Roger Willemsen


Gestern verstarb Roger Willemsen nach langer Krankheit , wir hatten uns vor kurzem noch über ihn unterhalten, dachten darüber nach wie es ihm wohl geht. Es gibt Fragen die werden einem unvermittelt schneller beantwortet, als man es sich wünscht.

Zur Erinnerung hier eines seiner Lieblingslieder von Bill Evans – Peace Piece. Roger sagte über den Song damals , daß er ihn nicht inflationär anhörte, sich sozusagen den Genuß aufsparte , wie eine gute Tafel Schokolade , die man nur ab und zu aus dem Schrank holt , um sich ein Stück abzubrechen und dieses Stück dann langsam auf der Zunge zergehen zu lassen .

Leonard Norman Cohen,  (born September 21, 1934 in Montreal) is a Canadian singer-songwriter, poet and writer. Today he is 80 years old.

Leonard Cohen became well-known with songs like Suzanne, Hallelujah, First we take Manhattan, Bird on a wire , the partizan and a lot of other great songs of his work.

The sisters of Mercy (band) has been named after a song of Cohen, Nirvana mentioned him in their song „Pennyroyal Tea“

the Partizan , le partisan was the favourite song of a friend on FB, Kurt Heering , a writer from germany , died one year ago, his FB account is still online , but not active anymore, the gap in my friendship list remembers me always on this song

Taraf de Haïdouks are a Romanian gypsy combo consisting of 13 Roma musicians. These are from the 3000-strong community Clejani in the middle of the historical region of Wallachia in Romania’s south-east, about 40 km south of Bucharest, near the Bulgarian border.

The name of the combo goes back to Taraf (= band) and Hajdú (Heiducken a people  fighting for freedom ) , just so: Hajdú-orchestra.

The music is a combination of diferent influences of Balkan and Gypsy Music from Romania , former Yougoslavia Bulgaria mixed with components of oriental music from Turkey and Greece:

In 2002 the world famous violonist and head of the band Nicolae Neacsu, born 1924 died .

World Music - the Music Journey

Have been out last weekend in a bar , here in my hometown , Kaukastic had a gig there , a trio formed 2007  with Bernd Milkau singing and on westernguitar, Laslo Feher on guitar and Daniel Maurer (drums)

Had a lot of fun together with the other 70 people watching their gig , wonderful music  and for free !

Here is their song „Cinamon and Nuts “ a christmas song 🙂  a very calm song , but also watch their other songs , indie rock at his best

i love especially this song , when Laslo plays guitar soli in flamenco style

Black Uhuru  are a  Jamaican   reggae  group formed in 1972, initially as  Uhuru  ( Swahili  for ‚freedom‘). The group has undergone several line-up changes over the years, with Derrick „Duckie“ Simpson as the mainstay. They had their most successful period in the 1980s, with their album  Anthem  winning the first ever  Grammy Award  for Best Reggae Album in 1985. (wikipedia)
